I fell off the wellness bandwagon.  Fortunately, the YMCA teamed up with my employer to offer a low-cost plan to help steer me back to a healthier lifestyle.  The plan highlights 8 weeks of lifestyle changes while working with exercise physiologist, Mike Callanan.  This was just the “kick in the butt” I needed to start exercising regularly again.

Mike had us on an exercise plan tailored to our personal fitness level.  Another motivator was simply belonging to a group. My wellness teammates included some fellow co-workers and some PEIA members (who had an especially challenging time due to the public employees strike). What really kept me going was class members who were always encouraging each other to work toward a common goal – getting and staying fit.

.We had a healthy cooking session at Huntington’s Kitchen where Manager and Chef, Marty Emerson helped us prepare a delicious meal with dessert. Listen below to Chef Marty describe our tasty, healthy meal.

I urge everyone to check with their employer and insurance provider for low or no-cost wellness opportunities.  It’s a great way to start or continue your own wellness plan.
